The Railway

Sit back and enjoy a ride on one of Britain's oldest seaside miniature railways.

The Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway has been delighting generations of visitors since 1948 - originally started as a post-war seaside ride, it has developed into one of Lincolnshire's must-visit destinations.

Travel from Lakeside Station, the railway's main terminus, to Kingsway Station, situated next to Cleethorpes Promenade, where you might transfer to the Lollipop Road Train into town - a nostalgic way to travel, also doubling as a transport link.

Your 30 minute, 2-mile return journey takes you around Cleethorpes Boating Lake, joining the seafront path with views of the picturesque Lincolnshire Coast before winding in-land over our splendid viaduct.

Children can grab a free copy of Harry the Cats' activity sheet, spotting landmarks along the way.

Trains are hauled by our impressive fleet of heritage coal-fired steam and diesel locomotives, all running on 15-inch gauge narrow gauge track.

And a journey can be enjoyed, regardless of weather conditions, with a choice of open carriages to catch the sunshine, or under cover on the less pleasant days.

The train is wheelchair friendly, with a specially built carriage to accommodate two wheelchairs or mobility scooters on most trains.
