Since our last news, we have had many events take place and welcomed some brand new faces and family members!
The New Sister Railway!
You read that right, we now have another sister railway! in 2021, we were joined by the Scaraborough North Bay Railway as our owners, Seaside Railway Group, took over the railway & all the lakeside attractions that live there! Now we are happy to announce a new sister joining our ever growing railway family as our owners have taken over the Eastleigh Lakeside Miniature Railway! Already many changes and new additions have been made & added to the railway such a brand new Crazy golf course! We cant wait to see what the future holds for us & our sisters!
No.24 & Bonnie Dundee's Holiday
Bonnie Dundee returned home to the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway to take part in their 150th anniversary gala event starring the many locomotives of La'al Ratty and guest locomotive "Green Goddess" from the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway. although the plans changed as one of the locomotives in the home fleet at Ravenglass suffered some issues and was unable to run during the event. Thankfully, No.24 was not too far away and came to the rescue. She had just left the paint shop as she was picked up and taken to ravenglass. She had also took part in the 125th anniversary gala in 2000. Both locomotives performed brilliantly and the gala was outstanding success!
Homecoming
After all the excitement and the holiday to ravenglass once again, Our flagship locomotive finally returned to Cleethorpes for the first time since 2022 when it left to begin its overhaul at john fowler engineering. she looked marvelous as her wheels touched CCLR rails after such a long time. We celebrated her return to service on the 24th of May by holding a mini gala event starring both No.24 & Bonnie Dundee. One of our volunteers, Dylan, painted a headboard which No.24 carried all weekend to celebrate her return. this event was also filled with Folk music & cider as our Folk & Cider Festival was also in full swing!
Guest Locomotive Announcement
We are pleased to announce for this year's Summer Steam Festival, we are welcoming "Anne" from the Perrygrove Railway. This will be the first time Anne has visited Cleethorpes but will also be the first time her & Königswinter will be side by side since 2015 when they both ran at Longleat Safari Park!
Another Carriage in the works
After the refurbishment of the second ex-fairbourne carriage and successful start to the season, we have wheeled in Carriage number 3 for it's turn for refurbishment. already our team of volunteers have stripped the carriage down to bare steel and wooden frames to see the condition of the frames. we are happy to say that progress is going well we move one step closer to begin painting the carriage.
A New Cat in Town!
We are very happy to welcome one of the newest faces around the railway, this being Harry the station cat! Harry is our mascot for the railway and loves to come out to play and enjoy the train rides along the coast. if you pop into the railway in the future, keep an eye out for our lovable feline friend!
